Liverpool are pondering a possible transfer move for Valencia’s in form striker Paco Alcacer in the January transfer window, as reported initially by Spanish outlet Marca.
Alcacer has been in sensational form since the start of the season, and has already put home 10 goals for Valencia as they have emerged as one of La Liga’s surprise packages.
He has also provided four assists.
Valencia are in an awkward position with regards to Alcacer, with his contract set to expire in 2016, meaning that they need to tie him to a new deal soon or risk losing him for less than his true value.
He also has an €18 million release clause written into his contract, something that would undoubtedly not put off the Reds.
Liverpool have suffered in front of goal this season, with the injury to Daniel Sturridge causing particular issues.
However, tempting Alcacer away from Valencia might be difficult – they are now backed by Peter Lim’s fortune, giving them more financial power than most La Liga sides.
