Arsenal have agreed a new two year contract extension with striking star Olivier Giroud, as reported by the Daily Express.
The French international forward is currently injured, and is recuperating from surgery to fix a broken ankle.
The 27 year old suffered the injury during the away clash at Everton, which Arsenal drew 2-2 after coming back from two goals behind.
Giroud is set to be out of action until the New Year, although the player is thought to be making good progress with his injury.
Even so, the news about his new contract will provide a boost to the club and the squad.
Arsenal are expected to announce the deal in the next few weeks.
The agreement will tie Giroud to the club until 2018, a two year extension on his current deal.
It will also see him earn an increased wage of £80,000 weekly.
This works out at over £16 million for the length of the contract.
Arsenal are on the cusp of agreeing a new contract for striker Olivier Giroud, as reported by the Daily Express.
This deal would see the player sign a two year extension to his existing agreement, and would take his stay at the Emirates Stadium to 2018.
The star would also earn £18 million over the course of the next four years of his new deal, a bumper agreement for the player. This would come as a result of his basic wage jumping from the current £60,000 a week to a new £90,000 weekly salary.
The club have recently signed up a host of talent to new contracts, including the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Laurent Koscienly, Tomas Rosicky, Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla.
Despite having suffered a broken foot, which has put him on the treatment table for the foreseeable future, manager Arsene Wenger clearly feels he can make an impact when he returns to the first team.
An impressive season last time around saw Giroud net 22 times in all competitions for the gunners.
