Liverpool Step Up Interest In £12m ‘Next Buffon’ – reports

Liverpool are set to step up their interest in Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Perin’s agent recently revealed that the Anfield club have been in contact with him over a possible bid.

He also said at the time that Perin is likely to move abroad in the future, handing Liverpool a further boost.

However, Sky Italia are now reporting that the Reds have stepped their interest in signing him up further, ahead of a possible move in January.

Brad Jones has played the last few games for the Merseyside team, but there are few doubts that this is a temporary solution for Liverpool.

Perin has kept an exceptional six clean sheets in 14 games for Genoa this season, contributing to his side’s good form in Serie A.

He has also been favourably compared to Juventus star Gianluca Buffon, comfortably one of the best goalkeepers of the last 20 years, showing the talent that he possesses.

Perin is also valued at around £12 million.

Liverpool Open Talks With Arsenal Targeted £12m Stopper

Liverpool have opened talks with Genoa about signing their goalkeeper Mattia Perin in January, as revealed by the player’s agent.

Simon Mignolet’s recent form has caused the player’s place in the first team to come into question among fans and the media.

As a result, he was dropped for the game against Manchester United, with Brendan Rodgers instead choosing to play Brad Jones.

This is not a permanent solution by any means, however, and Rodgers is now looking to sign a new goalkeeper.

Perin is highly rated in Italy, keeping six clean sheets in 14 appearances in Serie A.

The 22 year old also made his debut for the Italian national side in November, showing the excitement around the young talent.

Arsenal could offer a rival to Liverpool’s bid, having watched Perin in the past.

The player’s agent, Moreno Roggi, has previously revealed that the player would cost any potential suited around £12 million to sign.

“There has been contact with Liverpool,” Roggi told the press.

“For Perin I can only imagine a future abroad. I would like him to remain in Italy, but only clubs from abroad can afford him.

“England? It’s a possibility.”
