£47m Star Puts Arsenal And Man Utd On Alert After Blasting Club

Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels has blasted his current club, calling the team’s displays this season, which have left them marooned in the relegation zone at Christmas, ‘pathetic’.

Hummels has been consistently linked with a move elsewhere in the January transfer window, with both Arsenal and Manchester United named as potential destinations for the exceptional defender.

He gave a far reaching interview in the summer, in which he declared that he had no desire to leave Dortmund, given the extent to which he enjoyed playing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, their form in the Bundesliga has been lacking.

They have gone from consistent challengers for the title to relegation battlers, and they will have to improve their form considerably in the second half of the season if they want to reach their usual heights in the league.

This could give a boost to both Arsenal and Man Utd, who might see a move as more achievable going into January.

Dortmund have valued Hummels at around £47 million.

Hummels said: “It’s pretty astonishing that we are so pathetic.

“There is no guarantee that it will get better. There just isn’t. Almost every key player was injured in the first round [of the season].

“We have played as badly as imaginable. We’re very concerned. The way we’re playing, we’re right down there.

“If we have all the strongest players back by the end of January then it will be different but there’s no guarantee of that.

“Three or four important players could get injured. Then we’ll have to deal with it differently from in the first round.”

£47m Arsenal Target Made Available In January – reports

Arsenal target Mats Hummels has been made available by Borussia Dortmund, as reported by the Daily Star, but only if the north London side are willing to spend £47 million on him.

Manchester United have been chasing the German international defender for an extended period of time, but the Gunners have recently joined the race for the elegant centre back.

They are well aware of their own defensive woes and are therefore tracking the 25 year old star’s ongoing situation with Dortmund.

Arsene Wenger’s troops have fallen apart in the club’s last two games, with his side surrendering leads against both Anderlecht and Swansea City.

While Dortmund are particularly keen to keep hold of Hummels in January, given their own struggles since the start of the season, they are aware that every player has a price.

As a result, they’ve declared that they won’t sell Hummels for anything less than £47 million.

£47m Price Tag Slapped On Key Man Utd Target – reports

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has been priced at £47 million by the Bundesliga side, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

Manchester United therefore know how much it would cost them to sign a player who has repeatedly been identified as a key target of theirs, with the hopes that Hummels could fix their shattered defence in January.

Their preferred central defenders, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans, have all suffered significant injuries since the start of the season, and as a result, Louis van Gaal’s side have struggled terribly in defence, leaking goal after goal.

Hummels is considered to be one of the most talented defenders plying his trade in European football today, and would be a great addition for the Old Trafford side.

Now knowing how much Hummels would cost them, Man Utd could put together a more serious bid for the player in the January transfer window.
