Leeds Utd Owner Praises Fans After Yorkshire Derby Delight

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has praised the club’s fans after their high attendance at the club’s clash with Huddersfield Town yesterday, a game which saw the Whites storm to a 3-0 win against their local rivals.

The owner referred to the fan base as “beautiful”, and said that he is exceptionally keen to make them happy with the club’s success in the future, as reported by Adam Pope of BBC Radio Leeds.

Cellino saw his side dominate the game yesterday in front of a crowd of over 29,000 fans. While a tight affair was predicted, the Yorkshire giants blew apart Chris Powell’s Huddersfield side.

The deadlock was broken in the first half through a thunderous drive by Rudy Austin, who has been in good form under the caretaker stewardship of Neil Redfearn.

Just before half time, Mirco Antenucci doubled Leeds’s lead after latching on to a rebounded effort from Guiseppe Bellusci.

Souleymane Doukara rounded off the goals with a curled effort into the bottom corner after the break.

Leeds Owner Cellino Confirms Meetings With Former Boss Grayson

Massimo Cellino has confirmed that he held meetings with former Leeds United manager Simon Grayson, who famously led the club to promotion from League One, before being sacked by former chairman Ken Bates, as reported by Simon Austin, who has written for the likes of The Sun.

He met with both Grayson and his agent, with Cellino reportedly joking that he was unsure as to which was the manager and which his representative, before bemoaning  the state of agents in England, which is unlike what he knew in Italy.

This does, however, confirm that Cellino held meetings over the job with the club hero.

He also clarified that current Sturm Graz manager Darko Milanic is negotiating his release from his contract with the club, having agreed terms and held meetings with Cellino.

Milanic formerly won a treble while managing Maribor in the Slovenian league.

Leeds face Huddersfield Town tomorrow in the Championship.

Shock As Leeds Utd Face Yet Another Winding Up Order

Leeds United were one of four clubs to face a winding up order in the high court today, and Leeds were one of three who saw the order dismissed straight away, as reported by Sean Taylor of the Press Association.

The Yorkshire club faced an initial winding up order from Sport Capital earlier this summer, with that company claiming moneys owed by Leeds United to them, eventually winning that battle to be paid back by Massimo Cellino. A transfer embargo was placed upon Leeds at the time as a result, with it only being lifted after the summer transfer window opened.

It has now emerged that Leeds faced another winding up order today, but there is little information about who levelled it against them.

Owner Cellino has been keen to get Leeds back on a firm financial footing since taking over the club officially in April, and his success in getting an order dismissed can only be to the benefit of the club.
