Liverpool Chief Hints At Stunning Swoop For £28m Man Utd Target

Liverpool owner John W Henry has hinted at the fact that he wants to sign Borussia Dortmund’s world class winger Marco Reus on Twitter, putting a dampener on Man Utd’s hopes of signing the midfield maestro in January, as reported by the Daily Star.

The player has a release clause which becomes active next year, allowing another club to sign him away from Dortmund for only £28 million, well below his realistic market value, given the huge price inflation this summer.

The Reds will face significant competition from Man Utd, who have been regularly linked to the player, and Arsenal, who also supposedly targeted him in the summer.

Henry is also thought to be willing to put more money behind Brendan Rodgers, despite spending over £100 million this summer on players.

They may, however, wait until next summer to secure a move for the player, knowing the discount they could receive at that point.

Gunners’ Good Luck: £25m World Class Star Set To Miss Arsenal CL Clash

Marco Reus is likely to miss Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League tie with Arsenal after picking up an injury that is likely to keep him out of action for the next month in Germany’s 2-1 Euro 2016 win against Scotland, as reported by the Metro.

The 25-year-old wing wizard was forced to receive significant treatment at the end of Germany’s game, and doctors have now confirmed that the forward will require four weeks of rehabilitation before he can return to action, taking him out of Dortmund’s clash with Arsenal.

Reus famously injured his ankle before Germany’s successful World Cup campaign, and there were fears that Charlie Mulgrew’s challenge had caused a recurrence of the injury that he suffered in a friendly against Armenia.

This should see him out of action for Dortmund’s home game against Arsenal on September 16, although he could yet make the return clash at the Emirates Stadium, meaning it’s not all good news for the Gunners faithful.

Reus has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League this summer after it was revealed that his Dortmund contract will allow him to leave the German club for only £25 million next summer.

PL Rivals To Challenge Arsenal For Signing Of 25-Year-Old World Class Star – Reports

Manchester City are set to challenge Arsenal in their quest to sign Borussia Dortmund forward star Marco Reus next summer, as reported by The Metro.

The German international, who missed out on this summer’s World Cup with a tragic injury shortly before the tournament, has been consistently linked with a move to another club this summer, having rejected a new deal with the Bundesliga runners up this summer.

With the transfer window shut, however, it seems that Dortmund have managed to hold onto Reus for the coming season at the least, despite repeat interest from a series of top clubs in Europe, including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, with the north London club said to be particularly keen on signing him.

Reports are now suggesting, however, that City are now interested in bringing Reus to the Etihad Stadium, with Txiki Begiristain, the club’s director of football, said to be working on a deal to sign the player.

With City’s Financial Fair Play restrictions set to be lifted next summer, Reus’ £25 million transfer fee would be little trouble for the Manchester club. Reus can move for that fee under the terms of his contract, which is something Dortmund were hoping to avoid.

Dortmund might, in fact, be open to the deal, hoping to stop the 21 goal star from joining country rivals Bayern Munich, as so many other stars have done in recent years.
