Man City Boss See Star’s Contract Issues As Unimportant

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he does not see a problem with Joe Hart’s contract, despite agreeing fresh terms with a series of other key players in the squad, as reported by The Guardian.

The England international goalkeeper was dropped by Pellegrini at the weekend, in favour of summer signing Willy Caballero, and the Manchester club won their clash against Hull City 4-2 away from home.

Hart will, however, be restored to the starting line up for City’s key game with Roma in the Champions League tonight, although the Chilean boss denied there was any issue with his contract, despite the fact that it runs out in two years.

He said: “Me and Joe know what’s happening with that issue.

“I think it’s important we know how to manage it but it’s not the most important thing at this moment.”

The former Birmingham City loanee has established himself as a consistent first team player at the champions since Roberto Mancini’s second season in charge, although he did lose his place for a few games last season, with Costel Pantilimon taking the shirt.

Former Chelsea star Ashley Cole could line up against his old teammate Frank Lampard tonight.

City Boss Rages Against Chelsea’s “Small Team” Tactics

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has panned the tactics of Chelsea in visiting the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, saying that Jose Mourinho’s troops played the game like a “small team” in his post match press conference.

City have dropped four points at home against Stoke and the Stamford Bridge club in the last few fixtures, and both displays were characterised by counter attacking tactics and staunch defending from the away sides.

This has seemingly not been to the pleasure of Pellegrini, who raged against the tactics employed by Mourinho, saying that they befitted a team who were not of Chelsea’s class.

He told the press: “We had one big team playing as a big team, and one big team playing as a small team, like Stoke.”

City and Chelsea ultimately drew 1-1, with Frank Lampard bagging a late equaliser for the Manchester club. The former Chelsea man refused to celebrate after scoring for the club where he spent a long spell.

This cancelled out a strike from Andre Schurrle, who scored after a fantastic counter attac.
