Tottenham Hotspur are among a series of clubs monitoring the progress and availability of Manolo Gabbiadini, who plays for Sampdoria, as reported by the London Evening Standard.

The striker has emerged as a top talent since the start of the new season, and scored the winning strike in the derby della lanterna against Genoa last weekend.

With Spurs needing to strengthen in attack, having seen Emmanuel Adebayor fail to settle in perfectly to Mauricio Pochettino’s new system, Gabbiadini would be a potentially ideal addition.

As a result, Tottenham’s scouts are thought to have been watching the Italian star this season.

They could, as a result, follow up their interest with a move in January.

This would be more likely to happen if Gabbiadini continues his good form.

However, given the short winter window, the striker’s co-ownership situation, by which Juventus own 50 per cent of his economic rights, means that a move might be more likely when summer rolls around.

Spurs could still face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid and other Premier League sides.
