Bayern Boss Mocks Man Utd And Says They Can’t Afford His Players

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has mocked Manchester United, saying that the Old Trafford club cannot afford to sign his players, despite the club spending a significant sum in this summer’s transfer market in an attempt to rejuvenate their squad, as reported by the Daily Express.

The Bavarian club face Man Utd’s city rivals Manchester City in the Champions League this week, but despite this, Guardiola was keen to take a pot shot at Louis van Gaal’s new side.

Guardiola is regarded as one of the best managers in the world, having taken Barcelona to new heights in his time with the Catalan club. His first season with Bayern saw them win the Bundesliga in March, before beating Borussia Dortmund in the German cup.

There is, however, an expectation that Bayern need to match up to the achievements of Jupp Heynckes this season, who led the club to a treble, also winning the Champions League, in his last season with the club.

Guardiola said: “[Manchester United] don’t have enough money, I saw they spent this kind of money.

“It’s good for my friend Louis. I know all the players the clubs want, it just depends on the player.

“If the player wants to stay, they stay. Manchester United wants these kind of players, but they want to stay and we are happy to be here.”

Man Utd Boss Declares Top Three Finish To Be “Logical”

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has declared that he will be able to reach the goal that has been given to him by the club’s hierarchy, and says that it is only logical that the club can finish inside the top three by the end of the season, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Old Trafford club have had a significant spend in the summer transfer window, with the club breaking the British record for a transfer fee paid by a club from Britain. They acquired Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria for a huge fee of £59.7 million.

Despite spend elsewhere, Van Gaal has not managed to win a single competitive game since the season began. A loss to Swansea City in the first game of the Premier League season has been followed by draws against Sunderland and Burnley. There was also a humbling 4-0 loss to MK Dons in the second round of the League Cup.

Despite this, Van Gaal believes he can reach his targets, saying: “We’ve spoken about targets. A club like Manchester United has to set targets and I think within the top three is logical.”

Man Utd Boss Told He Can Spend Big In January – reports

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been told that he can splash out in the January transfer window, despite already spending a huge amount of money in the summer, after Man Utd posted a record turnover in their end of year accounts from last season, as reported by Goal.com.

The boss has been given the green light to carry on with his vast outlay during the coming transfer window, despite the club’s slow start to the new campaign.

Chief executive Ed Woodward would not go as far as to state an exact figure or where the outlay would go, but confirmed that Van Gaal would have a license to spend if the situation arose.

He said: “I wouldn’t have expectations for January but, if there is a willingness from the manager, we will engage with him and if there an opportunity, we will try and take that as we did last year with Juan Mata.”

Man Utd have struggled since the start of the new season, failing to win a single competitive match under new boss Van Gaal. Aside from a loss and two draws in the Premier League, they also suffered a 4-0 humbling against MK Dons in the League Cup.
