Boss Refuses To Discuss Future Of £200m Chelsea Targeted Messi

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has refused to answer the questions posed to him about the possible future of world class forward Lionel Messi, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Messi was left out of the starting line up for the game against Real Sociedad for the weekend, and there are rumours that Enrique and Messi have fallen out, with their relationship deteriorating considerably in the last few months.

Messi and Enrique are apparently not even talking any more, a difficult situation for a manager and player who is supposed to be integral to Barca’s style of play.

The Catalan giants went on to lose that game 1-0 against former Manchester United manager David Moyes’ new club.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Messi, with Roman Abramovich apparently deciding that this calendar year will be the ideal time to bring the four-time Ballon d’Or winner to the Premier League.

They have supposedly put £200 million aside to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

When asked about a possible switch to Chelsea, Enrique replied: “I’m not the right person to answer that.”

Chelsea Approach £200m Target’s Father Ahead Of Swoop – reports

Chelsea have reportedly approached Lionel Messi’s father to seek out interest in the player making a £200 million move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, as reported by the Daily Express.

There has been an incredible amount of speculation about Messi possibly leaving Barcelona, where he started his exceptional career, with the player’s reported falling out with manager Luis Enrique playing a key role in that decision.

Apparently, the four-time Ballon d’Or winner has told Barca’s board that they can either have him or the manager, with Enrique doing exactly the same with regards to Messi’s future.

Even if Enrique is ultimately sacked, the issue could still cause Messi to depart the Nou Camp in the near future.

Chelsea are thought to be lining up a £200 million move for him in the summer.

Reports in Spain suggest that Jose Mourinho’s side have contacted Jorge Messi, his father, to discuss a possible move.

Jorge’s influence could be used to swing Messi in Chelsea’s direction.

€250m Messi Wants Chelsea Switch – reports

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi prefers a future at Chelsea rather than at his current club, according to Spanish journalist Jordi Baste, reported on radio station RAC1.

The radio station has also claimed that Chelsea are willing to pay a staggering €250 million to bring him to the Premier League.

Messi is reportedly unhappy at the Nou Camp, having seen his playing time cut under Luis Enrique.

The club is also not acting correctly off the pitch, arguably, and yesterday the director of football resigned from his position, followed by assistant director of football Carlos Puyol, a former teammate of Messi’s, also leaving the club.

Roman Abramovich reportedly set a deadline of this year to bring Messi to Stamford Bridge, and it seems like the player himself is keen on a switch.

It now remains to be seen whether the two sides can thrash out a deal, although, undoubtedly, Barca will not want to be seen as weak in losing one of their key players.
