Spurs Legend Believes Side Will Struggle To Finish In Top 4

Tottenham Hotspur legend Ledley King has declared that manager Mauricio Pochettino would be best off forgetting the possibility of ending the season in the top four, although he feels the former Southampton coach is the right man for the job, as reported by the Daily Star.

The ex-Spurs captain believes that the Argentinian manager requires the time that has rarely been afforded to former bossesĀ at Spurs in order to turn the team around.

Chairman Daniel Levy has developed a reputation as something of a trigger happy boss, and last season saw him sack two managers.

Andres Villas Boas was dismissed after a series of new signings failed to blend, and his replacement, Tim Sherwood, had his contract terminated at the end of the season, having only been appointed shortly before Christmas.

Pochettino has had a mixed start to his time at White Hart Lane, but there are reasons to be positive about his side’s displays thus far this season.

King, 34, said: “It is going to be tough to finish in the top four this season.

“There’s going to be six or seven teams thinking they’ve got a chance of the top four.

“We are one of them but a lot of things would have to go right for us this season.

“It will be difficult this season but long-term we have the right manager.

“I’m sure he’ll still want to bring in one or two players.

“It is going to take a little bit of time for him to get his thoughts and methods across. But we’re confident he is the right man.”
