Louis van Gaal has reportedly told the Man Utd hierarchy that he is unwilling to sign any midfielder except Kevin Strootman, as reported by Goal.com.
The manager is so set in his belief that he is willing to wait until January to secure his signature, and would rather wait until then than sign another midfielder that he perceives as weaker.
Strootman was a key figure in Van Gaal’s Dutch side during qualification for the World Cup, and suffered a horrible knee injury that caused him to miss the World Cup, forcing Van Gaal to utterly rethink his formation.
Van Gaal has recently said that the Man Utd squad lacks any balance, and he sees Strootman as the box to box midfielder to fix their squad.
While Arturo Vidal has been consistently linked to Man Utd, the club has moved quickly to deny any particular interest in the player, with doubts about him moving to Manchester this summer.
Van Gaal is particularly adamant that the club does not panic buy in an attempt to create a quick fix this summer, to the detriment of any permanent solution to their midfield crisis being found. The Dutch manager thinks this will come in the form of Strootman.
