Man Utd Offer Up Record Breaking Star For Only £20m In January – reports

Manchester United are willing to let their former record breaking star Juan Mata depart the club in January for only £20 million, as reported by the Daily Star.

This represents a huge comedown for the Spain international, who made a stunning move to Man Utd from Chelsea only a year ago, agreeing terms for a switch in exchange for £37.1 million, which represented a record outlay for the Manchester club at the time.

Spanish media are now suggesting that the ex-Chelsea man has failed to make an impact since Louis van Gaal’s arrival, and therefore the former Netherlands coach is willing to let him leave.

Some of the clubs thought to be interested in him include Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Juventus, along with a host of other top European clubs.

Mata would reportedly favour a move back to Spain, and it is thought that Atletico would be an ideal fit for that, with the club bolstered by recent successes.

PL Expert Believes Man Utd Record Breaker Will Depart

Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has declared that he believes Juan Mata will depart Manchester United in the near future, despite having a telling impact in the Red Devils’ last Premier League game, as reported by the Daily Star.

Redknapp is of the belief that the role earmarked for Mata, that of a super sub, does not suit a player who possesses far too much quality to not be playing on a regular basis.

Mata’s switch from Chelsea last January for £37.1 million was heralded as a significant purchase for former manager David Moyes, but the Spain international has failed to live up to expectations.

He has started only seven games this season since the arrival of Louis van Gaal, who clearly does not see him as first choice ahead of Angel Di Maria and the rest of the other midfield options.

While the maestro did score from the bench against Crystal Palace, Redknapp does not believe this will be enough for Mata, and thinks he will move on.

He said: “[Mata] came off the bench to save Manchester United against Crystal Palace and he must be wondering what more he has to do to play regular football at Old Trafford.

“There is no doubting his quality — this is a player with a World Cup and European Championship to his name.

“But he found himself surplus to requirements at Chelsea and now seems to be in a similar position at Manchester United.

“You have to credit him because he never causes a fuss or has a bad word to say. But make no mistake. He wants to play football.

“He is too good to be a super sub at United and if he doesn’t get some more action, I could see him moving on or maybe even back to Spain.”

Juve Line Up Swoop For Sensational Man Utd Maestro – reports

Juventus are reportedly looking to bring Manchester United star Juan Mata in for the second half of the season, as reported by fichajes.net.

While there have been suggestions that Mata could be included as part of a swap deal for Chile international Arturo Vidal, there is also a belief that the player could be targeted by the Old Lady of Turin by himself.

Daily Sport Mediaset are suggesting that Massimiliano Allegri, the Juventus manager, has specifically requested that the club look to sign Mata in January to improve their options in attacking midfield.

He is of the opinion that the acquisition of Mata would help their current forward options improve considerably.

Mata would reportedly accept a move to Juventus, who could fund the transfer by selling Man Utd target Arturo Vidal to Real Madrid.

Mata has found himself on the fringes of the first team since the start of the season, and this might inspire him to leave the club he only joined last January.
