Liverpool Midfield Dynamo Wants To Stay At Club For Years

Liverpool’s newly appointed vice captain Jordan Henderson has declared that he wants to stay at the Anfield club for the foreseeable future, as reported by the Daily Star.

There is an expectation at the club that the England international midfielder will sign a new deal in the near future, like compatriot Daniel Sturridge before him, and there is a belief that he is being groomed as the successor for the club’s current captain, Steven Gerrard.

With that in mind, the club’s hierarchy are very keen to tie the player down for the long term, especially given that his current contract, which nets him £40,000 a week, will expire in only two years.

In comparison to Sturridge, who now earns £150,000 a week, assuming he reaches certain performance targets, this is a small amount.

Raheem Sterling is also set to discuss a new deal with the Reds in the near future.

Henderson is not worried by the situation, however, and said:  “I am just concentrating on playing football. I am not worried about that.

“I am enjoying my football, I love this club and I want to be here for many years so that shouldn’t be an issue.”

Liverpool’s Inspirational Star Declares: The Season Begins Now

Liverpool star Jordan Henderson has declared that the season begins now, and he thinks that the rest of his side are ready to move forward after ending a run that saw them not win for four matches in the league, as reported by the Daily Star.

The England international was given the man of the match award after his excellent display against West Brom.

His performance in that match was capped off by a fantastic goal that sealed the win for the Anfield club.

It also confirmed the reason behind Brendan Rodgers’s exceptional belief in the former Sunderland man, who has recently been appointed Liverpool’s vice captain.

In fact, Henderson’s leadership qualities were on display in the last minutes of the game, when he shouted at Steven Gerrard for not keeping the ball in the corner.

It symbolises a stunning turnaround in Henderson’s career, with Rodgers having been willing to sell him to Fulham shortly after his arrival.

The player is expecting the season to improve from here, and said: “It was an improved performance.

“I think we can be better but the three points we gained against West Brom was vital.

“The performance against Everton was good last week and we didn’t get three points, so this was all about the win.”

Liverpool Legend Backs 24-Year-Old To Become Club’s “Main Man”

Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard has backed his new vice captain Jordan Henderson to become the club’s new main man after he retires, with his midfield partner having grown into a significant figure at the club since Brendan Rodgers became manager, as reported by the Daily Star.

Henderson looked to be on the way out of Anfield only a few seasons ago, when Rodgers seemed set to let an expensive signing who had failed to impress depart, but a series of sensational displays in recent years have completely changed Henderson’s situation.

He is now somewhat indispensable in the middle of the park, as shown by Liverpool’s struggles once he was suspended towards the end of last season.

The England international has now been appointed vice captain at the club by Rodgers, and Gerrard, who scored an injury time penalty winner against Ludogorets in the Champions League on Tuesday night, has backed the 24 year old to replace him in years to come.

Regarding the appointment, Gerrard said: “It’s very well deserved and it’s no surprise to me.

“I’m sure he’ll be the main man – the club captain – in a few years when I have gone.

“He epitomises everything that a captain is. He works hard on and off the pitch.

“He’s well-liked in the dressing room. He leads by example and, let’s not forget, he’s a top player as well.”
