Boss Of Chelsea Opponents Remains Positive Ahead Of Clash

Schalke’s manager Jens Keller is remaining positive ahead of hi side’s match with Chelsea tonight, although his club have made their worst start to a season for 46 years and are suffering a substantial injury crisis that Jose Mourinho’s troops could quite easily exploit, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

He is optimistic but remains realistic about his side’s chances ahead of the game. His side have taken only one point from their three Bundesliga games thus far this season, and have suffered a sensational loss to third tier side Dynamo Dresden in the German League Cup, compounding their substantial misery.

It does not end there for Schalke, however, with the club having lost captain Benedikt Howedes, who won the World Cup with Germany in Brazil this summer. Howedes is just one of many key names who the club are without for the clash with Chelsea.

Keller, however, is remaining as optimistic as possible, and told the press: “It’s very difficult if you lose captain and the whole central defence, a very difficult situation.

“We just have to look at our options, see what we have, and just put four into the back line.

“All we can do is run, support each other and work really hard. We have to have a really good day to compete at this level.

“Last season [when the two clubs were also group-stage rivals], we lost both matches 3-0 and learned that mistakes get punished.

“They’re a top team and with the new acquisitions they’re even more of a top team, who will definitely have a say in competition. They will be well up there. But I’m a very positive person and you’ve got to remember anything possible in football.

‘’Nobody gave us a chance against Bayern but we showed they were wrong when we drew that game.

“In football, anything is possible.’’
