Arsenal And Liverpool Keen On 2 Time PL Winner For Bargain £5m – reports

Arsenal and Liverpool could take advantage of James Milner’s worrying contract situation to snap up the experienced England international for as little as £5 million in January, as reported by the Daily Star.

Milner’s contract expires at the end of the season, and there is little indication that the former Leeds United star is willing to renew his contract with the Premier League champions.

Despite playing a useful role for the Etihad Stadium club, he has never imposed himself consistently on the first team, and he is willing to move on to other opportunities.

Along with Arsenal and Liverpool, Merseyside rivals Everton are also keen on bringing the midfield machine in.

With his contract situation unfolding, City are now considering letting him go for as little as £5 million in January, despite valuing him at £15 million.

He is waiting to see how many times he is used this season before deciding whether to sign a new deal or not.

James Milner’s sudden desire to leave Manchester City has put both Arsenal and Liverpool on alert, with both sides expressing an interest in the England international, according to The Times. His desire to move stems from him finding himself on the fringes of the first team this season, with Pellegrini favouring other players to him.

With UEFA tightening their restrictions on City next season, including a need for eight homegrown talents in their shrunken 21-man Champions League squad, City are not particularly keen to lose a player who has developed into an incredibly versatile asset in the City squad.

Liverpool have lacked a player of Milner’s style in midfield, and this was symbolised by the manner in which they were repeatedly overrun after the sending off and subsequent suspension of Jordan Henderson during their clash with City.

Milner will take part in England’s World Cup efforts this summer. He is highly rated by manager Roy Hodgson, but Hodgson would find Milner’s selection ahead of other players who’ve played more football criticised.
