Arsenal Starlet Praises Side’s Solidity In Defence In Hull City Win

Arsenal youngster Hector Bellerin has praised his side’s solidity after the 2-0 victory against Hull City in the third round of the FA Cup, as reported by arsenal.com.

The Gunners were hardly troubled by Hull’s forward line in the game on Sunday, and went ahead 20 minutes into the clash through a Per Mertesacker header, converting from an Alexis Sanchez corner kick.

Provider turned goalscorer towards the end of the match, with Sanchez scoring late on to secure progress to the fourth round of the competition.

Bellerin has been used regularly this season by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, in the wake of the injury crisis suffered by his defence, and he has impressed in the right back role.

“We were very solid at the back so we weren’t scared at any moment,” Bellerin said.

“The team defended really well and then we were confident when we went forward and created our chances. We got two goals and it was a really good performance by the team.

“It’s good because we had two young players at the back as well. It’s good that we can show as well that we can defend and that the team can still be really secure with us there.

“We need to defend from the front and everyone was trying to get the ball as soon as possible, and I think the team did that really well.”

The Gunners have been less than impressive thus far in the Premier League, with the loss against Southampton last week speaking for their struggles defensively.

They confirmed the departure of Lukas Podolski to Inter Milan on Monday.

Confirmed Arsenal XI vs. Borussia Dortmund: Speedy Young Gunner Gets Suprise Start

Arsenal have confirmed their starting line up for the match against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League tonight, which is the opening game of the group stage for both sides.

The Gunners have started the new season in decent form, although a series of injuries have hampered their fluidity.

They have managed a solitary win in the league, on the opening day against Southampton, when they beat the south coast club 2-1.

Elsewhere, there have been draws against Everton and Leicester away from home.

The weekend saw them host Manchester City in the league, and they managed a 2-2 draw against the reigning Premier League champions, although they did lead going into the latter stages of the contest.

A series of injuries have hit the first team, however, with the extended absence of Mathieu Debuchy now hampering the squad even further. As a result, youngster Hector Bellerin starts against Dortmund, who finished second in the Bundesliga last season.

Danny Welbeck also starts up front, continuing on from the weekend. Welbeck is one of few Arsenal options in that position after the injury suffered by Olivier Giroud.

The line up is as follows:
