Arsenal Switch Midfield Targets After Wilshere Injury Blow – reports

Arsenal have switched their midfield targets for January, turning away from their long held interest in Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

The injury to Jack Wilshere means that the club need slightly different players.

Arsenal have to also look at that in the long term, given Wilshere’s constant nagging issues with his ankles.

Wenger has cast his eyes on Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak again after initially believing a deal for Khedira was on the cusp of collapse.

Sevilla would look to raise £20 million from selling the player however, and Inter Milan are also chasing his signature.

The Spanish side are also not necessarily willing to sell him though, and the Gunners are clearly not 100 per cent sure about Krychowiak, given their hot and cold attitude towards him.

Arsenal managed a 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in mid-week, with Alexis Sanchez scoring yet another goal.

Arsenal Line Up Huge £18m January Move For Midfield General – reports

Arsenal are said to be lining up a massive £18 million January move for Sevilla star Grzegorz Krychowiak, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Polish midfielder joined Sevilla from French side Reims, and since that move, he has impressed heavily in La Liga.

Reports in Spain are now suggesting that Arsene Wenger has been impressed enough to bring Krychowiak into the Emirates Stadium and make him the all-important and missing midfield general for the Gunners.

Krychowiak has been capped 22 times by Poland, and would probably supercede Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s captain, and Mathieu Flamini in the holding role in Wenger’s midfield.

The French boss has already promised fans of the club that he will go into business in the January transfer market, admitting that they did not get the players that they needed during the summer.

The north London side have struggled since the start of the season, with summer signing Alexis Sanchez aiding them significantly.
