Chelsea Hero Hails Successful Summer Window

Former Chelsea hero Gianfranco Zola has hailed the Stamford Bridge club’s transfer window movements this summer, and says that the club have managed to improve the squad considerably this summer, and Zola thinks the club have acted cleverly in the summer market, as reported by the Daily Express.

While the Stamford Bridge club spent in excess of £82 million this summer on the likes of Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis, they offset that spend by authorising the departure of David Luiz and Romelu Lukaku and allowing Fernando Torres to leave the club on loan to join AC Milan.

They also made sensible cheap additions, with the Blues also adding Loic Remy and Didier Drogba as, both of whom improved their existing options.

Chelsea’s success in the market can be seen by the fact that they have managed to win their opening three ties of the Premier League season, making them early favourites for the title.

Zola said: “I think it was very clever the way they used their money. They have a strong team, in every position they are very good.

“The quality of the football has been made better and I believe that Fabregas has a lot to do with that.

“Chelsea look like they will be one of the teams to beat – but the Premier League is long and the tough moments will come.”
