Chelsea Legend Reveals Thoughts On Club’s New £58M Duo

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has revealed his thoughts on the Stamford Bridge club’s new duo, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, saying that he is not particularly shocked that the pair have had a sensational impact since arriving in west London in the summer, as reported by the Daily Star.

Fabregas, who previously played for Arsenal, has made a significant difference to Chelsea’s playing style since his return to the Premier League, creating chance after chance for his teammates to plunder from.

Costa has been one of the prime beneficiaries of Fabregas’s service, and the Spain international has stormed to the top of the league’s goalscoring charts.

The Brazil-born player has already scored nine goals for the Blues, and aided them significantly in their rise to the top of the table.

Both players have played a key role in Chelsea’s sensational start, which has seen them go into the second international break without losing a single game.

Lampard is not surprised, saying: “I’ve watched their games from afar and we’ve played against them.

“It’s no surprise for me with either of them. Cesc Fabregas, I played against him at Arsenal, he knows the Premier League and is a top, world-class player.

“And we watched Diego Costa before we played Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final last year.

“We watched the video and we probably could have sat there for about three hours and watched his running and goals and everything he was doing.

“I thought he was some player and Chelsea have signed that player.”

Chelsea Legend Hints At Extended PL Stay

Chelsea legend has hinted at an extended stay with Manchester City, having made a surprising impact since the start of his loan spell with the Premier League champions, as reported by the Daily Star.

Lampard moved to the Manchester club in the summer months, having initially signed for New York City FC.

The new MLS franchise are City’s sister club, and with the New York club not set to play any fixtures until February of next year, a loan spell seemed like a good solution for all parties.

Despite questions over Lampard’s ability to motivate himself in competing with former club Chelsea, the retired England international scored a key goal against them, winning City a point against the unbeaten league leaders.

Since then, he has been in sensational form, and there have been suggestions that his loan spell, set to expire on January 1st, could be extended even further.

Lampard said: “The temptation is to not get ahead of myself in my career. I am here until January 1, basically, so I will focus on that and see what happens then.

“There has been a lot said about when the season starts, but the only thing that can decide my future is how well I am playing. They will be kicking me out in January if I don’t play very well!

“I am just looking game to game and trying to play as well as I can.”

Ex-Chelsea Hero Unsurprised By Star’s Sensational Goalscoring Form

Ex-Chelsea hero Ashley Cole is not surprised that his former Blues teammate has started his time with Manchester City in sensational goalscoring form, as reported by the Daily Star.

The former England international, who retired from the national side after being left out of the squad for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, has seen Lampard join Chelsea’s Premier League title rivals Man City.

Recent games have seen Lampard on top of his game in front of the net.

Having moved to New York City FC during the summer, Lampard joined the American club’s sister side on loan until the new Major League Soccer season begins.

Lampard began his recent run of form against his former club, where he is the all time leading goalscorer.

Including hitting the equaliser in that particular game, Lampard has scored four goals in his last three clubs for the Etihad Stadium club.

Cole could face Lampard tomorrow with Roma, and said about the midfielder: “I never expected to play against him. If I play and Lamps is selected it will be nice because he is a good friend of mine.

“I think everyone knows what Lampard brings to every team. It’s another experienced player for City and he brings goals.

“He got one against Chelsea. He probably didn’t like that but he’s paid to do a job. It was probably a bit disappointing for him to do that against Chelsea. It will be nice to see him.”
