Ex-Chelsea Wing Wizard Rejects Move Back To England

Florent Malouda, who played for Chelsea in the Premier League, has rejected a move to Championship side Birmingham City, stopping a potential return back to English football, as reported by the Daily Mail.

He has instead chosen to move to Ligue 1 side Metz for a single season, having dismissed the idea of making a move to Birmingham on his official Twitter account.

Malouda has been looking for a new club since he left Trabszonspor, who play in the Turkish league, and has chosen to return home to France for the coming season for the first time since 2007. It was in that year that he moved to Chelsea from Lyon.

While Malouda himself said that his agent had never heard anything from Birmingham, it turns out that the agent did not actually tell Malouda that he himself had contacted Birmingham, in an attempt to earn the player a contract for the coming season.

Lee Clarke said: “A member of my staff (head of recruitment) Malcolm Crosby, was contacted by the player’s agent.

“We were asked if we were interested. “
