Tottenham Hotspur starlet DeAndre Yedlin is set to return to White Hart Lane in January and join his team on a permanent basis.

The United States star, who broke through at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, is currently plying his trade with the Seattle Sounders, having returned to them on loan.

He was meant to stay with his former club for the entire season, but Spurs have cut that deal short, and the north London side are set to bring him back.

This comes after Yedlin was granted a work permit to play his football in England, and he could now feature as early as Spurs’ FA Cup third round clash against Burnley, according to the Daily Star.

Yedlin’s return will come as a boost to Mauricio Pochettino, with his side having struggled this season.

Kyle Walker has spent large swathes of the season injured, and having a dynamic full back available to the Argentine manager will be a plus.

It will be interesting to see how Yedlin adapts to the Premier League, but judging by his displays at the World Cup, he could be a real talent and a real positive for Spurs going into the second half of the season.

The player remained at Seattle on loan, with Spurs only intending to bring the 21 year old in next summer.

This was because Yedlin could not secure a work permit at that point, having not played enough international games.

However, Spurs are now hoping that a European heritage can allow them to bring Yedlin in soon.

The player has Latvian heritage, and is looking to get a passport from the European nation in order to make his move to White Hart Lane.

He said: “I’m working on getting a Latvian passport.

“If that goes through then January is definitely very possible.”
