Arsenal And Liverpool Midfield Target Agrees Deal

Bayer Leverkusen have signed their midfield starlet Christoph Kramer up to a new contract, despite heavy interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Kramer is currently in the middle of a two year loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach, and his excellent displays for them earned him a call up to Germany’s World Cup squad in the summer.

He even started the final for Joachim Low’s side, but was injured shortly into the match and had to be substituted off.

Arsenal were expected to push for a move for Kramer in January, with their midfield lacking a steely player like the World Cup winner.

There had also been interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United, and they could have rivalled Arsenal in any possible bid for the star.

However, with a new deal agreed between Leverkusen and Kramer, which is set to run until 2019, a move elsewhere may now take a significant time to materialise.

Our verdict

This news is a shame for Arsenal, who will now need to turn elsewhere to find the talented defensive midfielder they require, as evidenced by the fact they had to turn to Mathieu Flamini again against Liverpool on Sunday.

Man Utd To Battle Real Madrid For 23-Year-Old Midfield Ace – reports

Manchester United are set to challenge Spanish giants Real Madrid for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Christoph Kramer.

The Old Trafford club are set for a significant January outlay, despite having spent big money on players in the summer.

That activity in the transfer market appears to be paying off for the Red Devils, who now sit third in the premier league.

Louis van Gaal has now cast his eyes on Leverkusen star Kramer in an attempt to continue pushing for a return to the Champions League.

Kramer has impressed for Borussia Monchengladbach, where he is on loan.

As a result, he’s featured for the German national side, and started for them in the World Cup final, which they won.

Man Utd are keen on a player who will undoubtedly improve their midfield options, which remain weak despite their recent success, according to Talksport.

However, they will have to compete with Real Madrid if they want to sign him, which could prove difficult, given Real’s power in the transfer market.

Arsenal Line Up £20m Move For Elegant Young Midfielder – reports

Arsenal are pondering a possible £20 million move for German international Christoph Kramer, should their move for Real Madrid star Sami Khedira fall through, as reported by the Daily Star.

Reports in Spain suggest that the Gunners are still pursuing a move for the Real star, despite having chased him to no avail.

The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are also believed to be chasing Kramer’s international compatriot, which means there is no guarantee Arsenal would be able to capture him.

Real manager Carlo Ancelotti has also insisted that Khedira is incredibly keen to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, but the club and player need to agree a new contract soon.

Kramer is therefore Arsenal’s preferred alternative to Khedira.

The young star is on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach from Bayer Leverkusen, as part of a two-year deal.

He has been in exceptional form, and as a result, Wenger is lining up a £20 million bid for the player when he becomes available in the summer.

Kramer is also open to a move out of Germany.

He said: “That [moving abroad] has always interested me. I would not be afraid.

“I want to find out what my limit is and I always strive for the very best.”
