Manchester United have been hit with a blow in their chase for Arturo Vidal, after it was revealed that Real Madrid are set to make a €40 million bid for the Chilean international.
In fact, Juventus will almost certainly be more keen to accept that bid than any effort from Man Utd, with Real willing to offer Sami Khedira as part of the transfer, giving Juve a direct replacement for one of their key players, as reported by fichajes.net.
The Old Lady of Turin would almost certainly not turn down an opportunity to replace their highly talented midfield dynamo with a recent World Cup winner and experienced midfielder.
This would come as a blow to Man Utd, who have targeted Vidal since the summer but consistently found themselves unable to push through a move.
Should the offer be made, Man Utd would likely have to pay €60 million to match the bid, putting Vidal in an expensive bracket reserved for the world’s top talents.
Manchester United are set to face a battle from Real Madrid in their quest to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, as reported by the Daily Star.
As a result, they might offer Juan Mata to the Italian giants in an attempt to persuade them to deal with them rather then the Spanish giants.
Juventus are known to hold an interest in the magical Spanish playmaker, and Man Utd have found it increasingly difficult to fit him into the side since the start of the new campaign.
Mata’s arrival in January broke the club’s record outlay, but Angel Di Maria’s £59.7 million signing shattered that particular record.
Vidal is thought to want to leave Juventus, and Man Utd have targeted him consistently since the summer, when they were thought to be willing to pay £47 million to sign him.
No deal was pushed through, and Man Utd now face the risk of losing a key target to Real Madrid, according to Corriere dello Sport, which suggests that Vidal’s representative Fernando Felicevich is currently discussing a January move with Real.
Manchester United target Arturo Vidal is thought to be pushing through a move to the Old Trafford club, as reported by the Daily Star.
There are suggestions in Italy that the player is keen to leave Juventus, in order to sign with Louis van Gaal’s side, after a summer full of speculation that he would make the move to Manchester.
Despite the constant rumours linking him with a switch, a move never came to fruition, and it seemed as though interest had cooled on both sides.

However, reports in the press have picked up steam again in the last few days, with Man Utd said to be interested in strengthening their midfield with the Chilean international.
Vidal did, however, report late for training on Friday, having been involved in a brawl in a nightclub in the early hours of the morning.
Juventus are now keen to ascertain whether this is part of an attempt on Vidal’s part to push through a move.
