German international defender Antonio Rudiger has suggested that a move to Manchester United in the future remains a possibility after discussions with the Old Trafford club in the summer saw them express their interest in signing him, as reported by the Daily Express.

While a move between VFB Stuttgart and Man Utd failed to materialise for the newly capped German, the Manchester club did make a transfer enquiry to his current side to see whether he was available for a switch.

At only 21 years old, Rudiger is considered to have great potential and sees it as possible that he could make a move to the Premier League in the future.

He said: “The enquiry honours me, it makes me proud. But I focus on the VFB, and I will continue to grow.

“What might happen sometime in the future, I do not know. This is of course a top international address. And they play in the league of which I dream.”

With his national side facing significant retirements after capturing the World Cup in Brazil this summer, Rudiger has been involved in both of Joachim Low’s most recent squads against Argentina and Scotland.

Man Utd have signed Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind this summer, but have not added a specialist central defender like Rudiger.
