Legendary Man Utd Hitman Extols Virtues Of New Sensation

Manchester United legend Andy Cole has praised Radamel Falcao heavily, saying that he is part of a dying breed and that he will prove a hit in the future, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

The former striker, who was renowned for his goalscoring prowess in the past under Alex Ferguson, has also stated that he believes Falcao will shine.

Cole was an old school number nine, and Falcao matches him heavily in playing style. It is therefore significant for Falcao to hear a former great in his role expect so much of him.

While Falcao has played twice for Man Utd since joining the club, he has failed to score, although he is still working his way back to full fitness after a long spell on the sidelines.

He will get another chance to do so at the weekend, when West Ham visit Old Trafford, although it will be no walk in the park for the Manchester club.

Their form since the season started has been poor, and they need to improve considerably if they want to achieve their goal of Champions League football.

Cole has backed Falcao to inspire them to that, saying: “For me personally, when I look at him, I see an old-fashioned centre-forward. He wants to get into the box and score goals. He is very brave.

“You don’t see a lot of that any more in the game. It’s why he went to Monaco in the first place for £50million. He gives you a hell of a lot of goals.

“The old-fashioned no.9 is a dying breed. There are not many out-and-out goalscorers who want to run into the box to score goals.

“When you do have someone like Falcao, if he does score goals, he will be treasured here. It’s a case of gradually easing him into it as he’s been out for a long time and going from there.”
