Arsenal To Battle For £12m Rated Defensive Star – reports

Arsenal and Manchester United are about to do battle for Hull City defender Andrew Robertson, as reported by the Daily Express.

The talented young star has been exceptional since moving to Hull in the summer, signing for them for only £2.85 million from Dundee United.

His eight starts for the Humberside club have done nothing to dissuade the top sides in the Premier League that Hull have a talent on their hands, and they are now thought to be chasing him.

Both Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal are understood to be keen to add Robertson to their sides, and Bruce is honest about Hull’s chances of keeping hold of his star.

He said: “There has already been one or two with phone calls asking ‘to keep me informed’. That’s always the first stage.

“I had it with Palacios when I was at Wigan and then Valencia when he went off to Man Utd. And if this kid keeps performing the way he is then it might become inevitable.

“I spoke to Gordon about him in the summer. He threw him in against Nigeria for his first cap. He took to it like a duck to water, and he has done exactly the same when offered the challenge with us.”

Arsenal clearly require additions in that position, with Nacho Monreal, their preferred second choice full back, having to fill in in the middle of defence.

Man Utd have more than a handful of options available to them, but Luke Shaw has not been as good as expected.
