Man City Eye Swoop For £15m Liverpool Targeted Striker – reports

Manchester City are eyeing up a possible move for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the January transfer window, as reported by the Daily Express.

The Etihad Stadium club sent scouts to watch him in the French cup against RC Lens, having seen Lacazette play exceptionally well thus far this season.

Lacazette is the top scorer in Ligue 1, having scored 17 goals since the start of the campaign, and as a result, he has caught the attention of several clubs.

One of those interested in Lacazette are Liverpool, who hoped that the Lyon star would be able to aid them in their striker crisis.

However, Man City possess the financial firepower to blow the Anfield club out of the water with any offer for the £15 million rated ace.

City need a striker in January, with injuries to Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero seeing them turn to James Milner as a replacement forward.

President Rules Out Liverpool & Newcastle Purchase Of £15m Star Striker

Liverpool have been dealt a final blow in their chase for Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette, with the president confirming that there is no change the player will leave the club.

The failure of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert to replace the goals lost with the sale of Luis Suarez in the summer means that the Anfield club are keen to buy another striker in January.

Daniel Sturridge’s injuries have been problematic for Liverpool too, and as a result, they have crawled to tenth in the Premier League heading into the Christmas period.

Lacazette would be an ideal signing for the Reds, having fired home a huge 17 goals in Ligue 1 this season, exactly the sort of goalscoring record that Brendan Rodgers’ side are lacking.

Newcastle were also linked with a move in the summer, and could have shown their interest again.

However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has once again ruled out any sort of sale, having said the same last month.

Aulas said: “It’s more than a desire, it’s a decision.

“It has happened, by obligation, that we say ‘No’ in the hope of getting a big offer, but this time, it’s ‘No,’ and it’s a question of strategy.

“We will not sell. We have just invested more than 400 million euros in a new stadium, so to sell our best players, who would enable us to play the Champions League in that stadium, would be to go against our strategy.”

Our verdict

Liverpool clearly need another striker, but it seems as though it won’t be Lacazette. This is the second time Aulas has ruled out his sale, and seems pretty set on that.

Liverpool Blow In Chase For £15m 11 Goals In 13 Ace – reports

Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their chase for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, with the club’s president denying that there is any chance the player could move in the near future.

The Reds are looking to sign another striker in the January transfer window, with Luis Suarez’s summer replacements Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert failing to score with any regularity since the start of the season.

Daniel Sturridge has also struggled with injury since the start of the campaign.

On the other hand, Lacazette has hit 11 goals in only 13 games for Lyon, and Brendan Rodgers was likely hopeful that he could transfer that form to the Premier League.

The Daily Mirror believes that it would have cost Liverpool around £15 million to bring the in-form striker to Anfield.

However, Lyon’s president has denied that there is any chance he could switch clubs in the winter transfer window.

President Jean Michel Aulas told radio station RMC: “The difference between now and Benzema’s time is that we will soon have a big stadium to ensure revenue.

“There won’t be such a need to sell players. Lacazette won’t go anywhere. We have enough money so that we can keep him.”
