22-Year-Old Arsenal Star Looking To Break Into International Setup

Arsenal’s 22 year old star Carl Jenkinson is hoping to earn a place in the England national side this season by getting consistent football while on loan with West Ham United, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Jenkinson is set to make his debut for the east London club this evening against Hull City, having moved to the Hammers on loan from Arsenal after the Emirates Stadium club confirmed the addition of Calum Chambers from Southampton.

The young right back had the opportunity to represent Finland at international level, but chose instead to declare himself for England, and he is now hoping that a good season with Sam Allardyce’s side can earn him a place in Roy Hodgson’s squads going forward.

He said: “A few of the England boys have retired in the past couple of months. Glen Johnson is in his 30s now. I am not sure how much longer he will play international football for.

“After that, there are a few boys like myself, Kyle Walker, Calum Chambers, Nathan Clyne, a few young right-backs out there. This has to be the season where we stamp our authority down.

“The position is there for the taking. It’s up to us all to do the business. It won’t be easy, of course, but I, as much as any of those boys, want to be in that England squad. I believe I am capable of it.”

With several retirements in the last few months, the England team is taking on a new look, although with the likes of Chambers and John Stones ahead of him, Jenkinson will still face a battle to be involved.

World Cup Goalscoring Sensation Joins West Ham After Being Granted Work Permit

Enner VALENCIA

Ecuadorian international Enner Valencia has completed his long mooted move to West Ham United, having been granted a work permit by the Football Association, as reported by the Hammers’ official website.

The London club agreed a deal to sign Valencia with Mexican side Pachuca earlier this month, with Valencia also agreeing personal terms with the side. He starred at the World Cup, scoring three goals in three games for his national side as they threatened to emerge from their group, ultimately falling just short.

West Ham reportedly beat a handful of Europe’s top sides to sign Valencia, and he is now able to join up with Sam Allardyce’s team for pre-season training.

Valencia had a good record in Mexico before moving to West Ham, scoring 18 goals in only 23 appearances for Mexican side Pachuca. He only signed for them in January from Emelec, in his native land of Ecuador, but is now excited to test himself in the Premier League.

He said: “The Premier League is the top league and I have followed it in Mexico. Obviously my countryman Antonio Valencia has played here for a long time so it’s a big step for me to come here from Mexico and I hope I can be as successful as Antonio.

“It’s exciting to be here in England and London. I want to repay the club in my performances for what they are investing in me and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Velez bid farewell to Zarate ahead of West Ham move

@awinehouse1

Velez have given Mauro Zarate the go ahead to join West Ham, officially bidding farewell to the striker, according to La Gazetta Dello Sport.

Zarate, who has previously played in Europe for both Inter Milan and Lazio, has already had a medical with West Ham, and apparently another barrier between himself and the coming move has been removed.

Zarate is a controversial figure, supremely talented but with staggering issues. In the past, he was subjected to unique clauses in contracts to stop relatively selfish play in front of goal. If Sam Allardyce can get the best out of him, he could be a genuinely impressive signing, but the 27-year-old has never really reached the peaks expected of him before his initial move to Europe.

Allardyce has been required to restructure the squad for the coming season. David Gold and David Sullivan, the owners of the club, expect more attacking flair from the team. Signing Zarate seems to be a step in the right direction.
