Chelsea Eye Up £20m Move For Goalscoring Ace – reports

Roma’s intended January bid for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke could allow Chelsea to make a successful move for their long term target Mattia Destro.

The Italian club are very keen to bring Benteke to the club during the winter transfer window, but that deal is contingent on selling Destro to another club for a big price.

Chelsea are one of the sides who have been most keen on Destro in the past, and the highly rated striker is thought to be worth around £20 million.

While Destro does not play 90 minutes regularly for Rudi Garcia’s Roma, he has been granted opportunities to play.

The likes of Diego Costa and Loic Remy would be ahead of him in the pecking order at Chelsea, meaning that he would be unlikely to play regularly.

With Drogba set to retire at the end of the season, Jose Mourinho might be tempted into securing the 23 year old Destro as an alternative for the future, according to the Daily Express.

Champions Discuss Deal For £50m Chelsea Flop – reports

Atletico Madrid have opened up negotiations with AC Milan over the possible return of Fernando Torres to the Spanish capital in the January transfer window.

The Chelsea misfit has struggled since joining Milan on loan in the summer, being granted very few opportunities to impress while playing at the San Siro.

Torres has failed to hit the heights of his time at Liverpool since moving to Stamford Bridge, with his £50 million deal proving one of the more costly mistakes of the Roman Abramovich era.

Any deal that went through would be reliant on Allesio Cerci moving to Milan, according to AS.com.

Chelsea are unlikely to stand in the way of any switch in loan destination, having been perfectly happy to see Torres join Milan for two seasons.

Torres’ homecoming to Atletico comes after Diego Simeone asked his club’s board for another striker.

A move back to the Spanish champions would see him join the club where he began his career.

Giants Prep Bid For £7m Spurs Star – reports

Inter Milan are lining up a move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon in the January transfer window.

The arrival of former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has led to a significant reassessment of Inter’s squad, which has been struggling in Serie A this season.

Form has not immediately picked up with the return of Mancini, who led Inter to three Scudetto wins during his last reign at the club.

He was ultimately sacked in favour of Jose Mourinho, who led them to a famous treble, including a Champions League win.

Since Mourinho moved to Real Madrid, Inter have struggled, with Mancini the latest in a succession of managers.

They have now targeted Lennon in an attempt to improve the options available to Mancini, according to the Daily Star.

He is currently Spurs’ longest serving player, but has made very few appearances since Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment in the summer.

The 27 year old is valued at around £7 million by the north London side.
