Bayern Boss Mocks Man Utd And Says They Can’t Afford His Players

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has mocked Manchester United, saying that the Old Trafford club cannot afford to sign his players, despite the club spending a significant sum in this summer’s transfer market in an attempt to rejuvenate their squad, as reported by the Daily Express.

The Bavarian club face Man Utd’s city rivals Manchester City in the Champions League this week, but despite this, Guardiola was keen to take a pot shot at Louis van Gaal’s new side.

Guardiola is regarded as one of the best managers in the world, having taken Barcelona to new heights in his time with the Catalan club. His first season with Bayern saw them win the Bundesliga in March, before beating Borussia Dortmund in the German cup.

There is, however, an expectation that Bayern need to match up to the achievements of Jupp Heynckes this season, who led the club to a treble, also winning the Champions League, in his last season with the club.

Guardiola said: “[Manchester United] don’t have enough money, I saw they spent this kind of money.

“It’s good for my friend Louis. I know all the players the clubs want, it just depends on the player.

“If the player wants to stay, they stay. Manchester United wants these kind of players, but they want to stay and we are happy to be here.”

Boss Shock At £6.8m Man Utd Summer Sale

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed his shock at the fact that his club were able to bring Shinji Kagawa back to the Westfallenstadion this summer, with the German boss surprised at the fact that Manchester United were willing to let him go, as reported by the Daily Star.

Despite having signed the Japanese international from Dortmund in 2012 for £12 million, the Manchester club were happy to let him move back to the club where he made his name for only £6.8 million, a huge loss on a player who never truly settled during his time in the Premier League.

Klopp, however, highly rates the diminutive midfielder, and threw him straight back into action at the weekend upon his return to Dortmund. He shone in the match against Freiburg, and capped off a good display with a well taken goal.

He said: “I was kind of surprised Kagawa was on the market again.

“His first year at Manchester United was Sir Alex Ferguson’s last year, so that isn’t the time to develop players.

“The only thing you want at that stage is results and titles. Kagawa’s second year at United was the first year of the new coach, so that’s also all about results.

“Then there was a third manager. So we saw the chance to sign Kagawa and we took it. Kagawa was sensational against Freiburg.”
