Disappointment For Man Utd And Chelsea As Dynamo Commits Future To Club

Former Manchester United wonderkid Paul Pogba has committed his future to Italian giants Juventus, despite interest from the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City. He has also been heavy linked with a return to Old Trafford this summer, as reported by the Daily Star.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport is reporting that the French international, who starred at this summer’s World Cup, is set to agree a new contract with the winners of the Scudetto, which will keep him at the club until 2018.

His new contract will earn him £2.5 million a year, which the 21-year-old could have increased significantly if he had moved to one of the clubs interested in his signature.

Pogba infamously left Man Utd in 2012 to join Juventus, having struggled to impose himself on the first team. He has since gone on to become one of the most highly rated midfielders in world football, to the extent that he won the award for Young Player of the Tournament at this summer’s World Cup.

His departure was considered one of the great mistakes of Alex Ferguson’s later reign at Old Trafford, and there were suggestions that they were interested in re-signing him this summer. Chelsea had also maintained an interest, along with City.

Former Chelsea Prospect Wants To Prove Worth In Premier League

Patrick van Aanholt has said that he wants to prove that he is capable of performing in the Premier League after leaving Chelsea to join Gus Poyet’s Sunderland, as reported by Goal.com.

The former Chelsea man has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons on loan at Vitesse, and he is now chomping at the bit to show the Premier League what it is he can do after receiving very few opportunities at Chelsea.

His time at Stamford Bridge was not particularly productive, as five years saw him make just two Premier League appearances for the Blues.

He spent significant time out on loan at other clubs, with spells at Coventry City, Newcastle, Wigan and Leicester City. Van Aanholt’s most consistent time at a club was with Vitesse in the Eredivisie, where he spent the better part of three seasons.

The 23-year-old’s move to Sunderland was confirmed on Friday, and he is looking forward to an opportunity to really prove his worth.

He said: “I thought about it for a second and said: ‘Yes, I would love to come to Sunderland.

“It’s a great club and a great opportunity for me to play in the Premier League.

“It’s a good opportunity for me after two-and-a-half years in Holland and a couple more loans in the Championship.

“I want to prove myself in the Premier League so everyone can see what kind of player I am and what I’m capable of doing.

“I had a couple more offers from different coaches but I said no I want to stay in the Premier League.”

European Giants Target Wantaway Chelsea International

Real Madrid and Juventus have both reportedly targeted the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea this summer, with Madrid seeing him as an alternative should they miss out on the signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco, according to AS.

They face stiff opposition from the Old Lady of Turin, however, with Juve’s sporting director Giuseppe Marotta set to contact the Stamford Bridge club about bringing the striking talent, who spent last season on loan with Everton, to the club on either a permanent or temporary basis.

Corriere dello Sport are suggesting that Juventus would be happy with taking Lukaku to the club on loan, which is Chelsea’s preferred option, but would be happier to sign him on a permanent basis. Chelsea are looking to loan him out after the additions of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba.

The 21-year-old has also attracted interest from Real, with Ancelotti looking for another striker to cover after the departure of Alvaro Morata.

Lukaku is keen to settle his future, having spent the last two seasons on loan to sides in the Premier League. He also spent a season with West Brom, where he was also a great force in front of goal.

The last two seasons have seen him score 32 goals in 66 Premier League games, an incredible record given the fact he has spent neither of them at a side expected to challenge for honours.
