Man Utd To Make £1.5m Move For PL Defensive Brute – reports

Manchester United are set to increase the pressure on Aston Villa, and force them to make a decision about Ron Vlaar’s future by making a £1.5 million bid for the defender, as reported by the Daily Star.

While Vlaar is available at the end of the season on a free transfer, Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal is willing to pay a reduced fee, relative to his value, and capture him during the winter transfer window.

Vlaar’s contract expires at the end of the season, and should Villa and the player not agree a new deal, he will be able to leave for nothing.

The midlands club are insistent that they would rather have that occur than sell him now.

While a £1.5 million bid will not force through a move, it will likely not cost much more to sign him.

He only cost Villa £4 million, and while he is a key player, the club managed the first section of the season without him after he suffered an injury.

Vlaar is also thought to be keen on a switch, having come to the natural end of his time at Villa.
