Done Deal: Man Utd Snap Up Liverpool Target Until 2016 – reports

Manchester United have reportedly snapped up former Liverpool target Victor Valdes until the summer of 2016, as reported by the Independent.

The former Barcelona goalkeeper, considered to be one of the better goalkeepers in world football, has signed a two year contract with the Old Trafford club.

Valdes has been training with the Red Devils in an attempt to prove his fitness.

He suffered a serious knee injury towards the end of last season, scuppering an anticipated move to French side AS Monaco.

The 32 year old is expected to become the understudy to in form stopper David De Gea, giving Man Utd two exceptional choices between the sticks.

Valdes played more than 500 matches for the Catalan giants, and will  replace current second choice Anders Lindegaard, who Louis van Gaal does not consider to be good enough to play for the Manchester side.

The goalkeeper comes with an exceptional pedigree – he has won six domestic titles, two Copa del Rey crowns and lifted the Champions League three times, while also winning the World Cup and European Championship with Spain.

He was repeatedly linked with a switch to Liverpool to replace Simon Mignolet, and this latest news will come as a blow to fans of the Anfield side.
