Liverpool Cult Hero Wants New Contract

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure wants a new contract to stay with the Reds past the end of this season, but the Ivorian is fearful that no deal is forthcoming, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Toure has become something of a cult hero at Anfield since joining them from Manchester City, and has been one of the more impressive defenders this season.

Given the poor displays of other central defenders, it could be expected that the Reds might want to secure one of their better performers going forward, but that does not, as of yet, seem to be the case where Toure is concerned.

There have been no discussions over a new deal, and that is worrying Toure somewhat.

He said: “I would be happy to stay here for another season, but it’s not down to me.

“If I was going to stay I would maybe have expected to hear something by now but I haven’t.

“I’m not going to think about my future right now. I will try to enjoy every single minute at Liverpool, giving 100%.”

Liverpool have just faced AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup third round, a repeat of their famous final from 1988, and the first time the two sides have faced off since the rebirth of the south London club.
