£12.5m Chelsea Starlet Delighted By FA Cup Success

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has told the press that he is delighted by the Stamford Bridge club’s success in the FA Cup on Sunday, as reported by ChelseaFC.com.

Zouma made his first ever appearance in the competition against Watford at the weekend, and capped a good display with a headed goal to secure the victory.

His goal followed strikes by Willian and Loic Remy, as Chelsea broke down Watford’s resistance to ensure progression to the fourth round of the competition.

Zouma joined the Blues from St. Ettiene last January for £12.5 million, returning to them on loan for the second half of the season, but has found his opportunities to be limited since his arrival, primarily due to the good form of John Terry and Gary Cahill in the heart of Chelsea’s defence.

However, he seized his opportunity in his seventh start for Chelsea, impressing both defensively and in front of goal.

“I am very happy because I scored my second goal for Chelsea and with a clean sheet,” Zouma said.

“For me defensively that is very good because I am a defender and every defender likes it when we don’t concede goals, so I have to keep this every time when I play and if I can score every time I play it is much better too.

“The first half was not good because we played a little bit slow,’ he added.

“We began the game with not what we want, but the second half was really good, we played really well and we scored three goals so we have to continue and keep working.

“The second half was very much better.

“Watford played with five defenders so tactically for us it was a little bit difficult and they had good players and played well, and we had difficulties in some situations but we won 3-0 so the result is very good.

“I feel very well because John Terry and Gary Cahill are very strong and powerful and in condition to play every game, so I have to wait and wait with pleasure because they are really good defenders.”
