Man City To Pip Arsenal To £25m Forward – reports

Manchester City have set their eyes on Schalke forward Julian Draxler heading into 2015, putting them in direct competition with Arsenal for his signature.

The Manchester side received an enquiry from the Bundesliga club for their defender Matija Nastasic, and as a result, they asked about the availability of the highly rated Draxler.

Schalke have valued the German international at around £25 million.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini, who has led the Etihad Stadium club to the fourth round of the FA Cup, is keen on getting a first option on Draxler as part of any deal to sell Nastasic to Schalke.

Arsenal have been repeatedly linked with a move in the past, which would put them and Man City at odds.

Nastasic has been valued at £10 million by City, but Schalke are only willing to pay £8 million, after an initial loan deal until the summer.

This would give City scope to negotiate the deal, and possibly secure an option on a star of the future, the 21 year old Draxler, according to the Daily Star.
