Man Utd Star Blames Poor Finishing For Spurs Draw

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has refused to criticise the fixture list for his side’s draw with Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, instead believing that the team needed to convert more of the chances that they created in the game.

Louis van Gaal has been hugely critical of the winter fixture list after the draw with the north London side, believing that it is unacceptable to have to play that much football over a short period of time.

Much like every other Premier League side, Man Utd have played two fixtures over the last three days, but only managed a 0-0 draw in Sunday’s away game.

Despite Van Gaal’s claims, however, Jones is of the opinion that no one else in the side would look to tiredness as a reason behind the result away from home.

Instead, he has looked to the fact that the team created chance after chance but were simply unable to put them away.

“Fatigue is always going to kick in but it’s the same for every team,” the defender said.

“We created numerous chances in the first half but it wasn’t our day in front of goal.”
