Liverpool And Man Utd To Battle For £24m PL Star Striker – reports

Liverpool are looking to fund the purchase of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, valued at around £24 million, through the sale of Mario Balotelli in January.

They will face significant competition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for the West Brom player’s signature, however, meaning that any move cannot be guaranteed to take place.

Berahino has been in excellent form this campaign for the Baggies, hitting home eight goals, and impressing for England’s Under-21 side.

Liverpool see him as a direct replacement for Balotelli, who has failed to score in the Premier League since his arrival from AC Milan in the summer for £16 million.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly willing to spend big in January to capture a proven goalscorer, and therefore a move could be completed soon after the window opens.

Balotelli has been linked with a switch to Inter Milan, with former boss Roberto Mancini back in charge there.

Liverpool will almost certainly have to battle Man Utd, with Louis van Gaal believed to be a fan, according to the Daily Express.

  1. Liverpool should leave well alone. He hasn’t scored a goal for a while and seems to me that he’ll be another Andy Carroll and be bought on a good 6 months. They should concentrate all their efforts on signing Wilfried Bony in my opinion as he has proven himself to be a regular scorer in the PL.
