Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has refused to rule out the possibility of a £7 million January move for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
The Anfield club have been heavily linked with a possible transfer move for the highly experienced Stamford Bridge stopper, and his agent yesterday encouraged the Reds to make a move for the player.
Simon Mignolet has been in bad form for Rodgers’ side since the start of the season, and has been dropped in favour of Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones as a result.
Jones is not intended to be a permanent solution in net, however, and Liverpool are expected to buy another stopper.
Cech would be an ideal option, with the player having fallen out of favour at Chelsea with the return of Thibaut Courtois in the summer from his extended loan spell.
He has exceptional Premier League experience, and has proven himself at the highest level.
Rodgers refused to rule out a move.
“My only concentration is working with the group here and if there is a possibility of strengthening in January, we’ll take a look.
“[But only] at the right type of player.”
