£7m Spurs Star: Giants Declare They Are ‘Not Interested’

Inter Milan have declared that they have no interest in signing Aaron Lennon in the near future, despite being linked to the Tottenham Hotspur star in the press yesterday.

In a series of conversations with the press, one of which confirmed the club’s interest in Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio ruled out any possible move for Spurs’ right winger.

Lennon has found opportunities hard to come by in the league this season.

Erik Lamela is ahead of him in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s thoughts, despite his struggles last season.

Lamela capped off his recent good form with an excellent strike against Burnley at the weekend, and Lennon’s route back to the first team is likely even more closed off after his good performance.

Spurs are said to be willing to part with him for around £7 million.

However, one club not set to take them up on that offer are Inter, with Ausilio saying: “Lennon? We are not interested in the Tottenham player.

“He does not have the profile we are looking for.

“When you build a team you follow the guidelines of the coach at the same and that is what we did.

“Now we have a new coach and we will see what we can do in the transfer market in January.

“We will try to make the coach happy although we and our fans need to be realistic as we must respect our financial plan.”

Our verdict

This is a shame for Lennon. A move abroad could have rejuvenated his career. It is to be remembered that he is only 27 years old – hopefully he can find a club and regular football in January.

  1. Can we all please remember that it was only the gutter media who stated that Lennon was for sale and Inter wanted him….so no truth in it whatsoever! I suppose it makes headlines even if it is BS, and then of course more headlines when Inter deny it….you couldnt make it up!…..oh….wait!
