25-Year-Old Chelsea CL Winner Set To Leave Blues – reports

Chelsea star Ryan Bertrand is set to make a permanent move to Southampton, having had an exceptional start to his loan spell on the south coast.

The capped England left back joined the St Mary’s club in the summer on a season long loan deal, having seen the possibility forĀ opportunities at Stamford Bridge shrink even further as a result of Chelsea’s transfer activities.

Jose Mourinho brought Filipe Luis in to the west London side from Atletico Madrid in the summer, despite already using Cesar Azpilicueta as his first choice left sided defender.

Luis has finally been granted a series of opportunities in defence, and looks to have made the position his own.

It now seems even more unlikely that Bertrand will get an opportunity at Chelsea.

As a result, he is likely to move to Southampton on a permanent basis, having made 17 appearances for them, according to theĀ Daily Mirror.

Bertrand will move in January or the summer.

He famously made his Chelsea debut in the Champions League final, which they won.

Our verdict

This deal makes sense for all parties. Bertrand could be joining a Champions League club in the summer, if the side reach the heights of the early season again after Saturday’s 3-0 win against Everton.
