Manchester United and Arsenal have been put on red alert over Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.
Both Premier League giants have been reportedly contacted by Ramos and his representatives over a possible summer move for the talented central defender, according to sources close to Ramos.
However, a move for Ramos would almost certainly cost around £40 million, given how important he is to the Champions League winners.
His current deal with Real expires in 2017, and he is currently in negotiations over a new contract.
Talks have not gone well so far though, with Ramos keen on a pay rise as part of any new agreement.
This is an issue, given the length his contract still has to run.
As a result, Ramos has tested the market by contacting both Premier League sides, according to the Daily Star.
Ramos is known to have a poor relationship with Real president Florentino Perez, which could hinder any discussions between the two parties.
Our verdict
Ramos is one of the world’s most talented defenders, only getting a bad reputation because any mistake he makes is magnified. Both Arsenal and Man Utd would be lucky to sign a player of his quality, especially given their defensive issues.
