£5m Liverpool Star Could Join Giants – reports

Liverpool could lose midfielder Lucas Leiva on loan to Inter Milan in January.

There have been limited opportunities for the 27 year old since the start of the campaign under Brendan Rodgers.

The player has reportedly opened negotiations with Inter Milan over a possible loan move in the winter transfer window.

Inter are not likely to be the only side interested in signing him, with Rafael Benitez’s Napoli having expressed an interest in buying him in the summer.

There have also been South American clubs looking to purchase him in recent months.

However, Tuttosport are reporting that Lucas is most likely to join up with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

The Brazilian midfielder is reportedly Mancini’s top target as he looks to improve his Inter side.

They are 11th in Serie A.

Lucas is thought to want more first team football, having played only six league games for the Anfield club this campaign, and would be willing to move to find it.

Our verdict

Liverpool have two players ahead of Lucas in the pecking order in Emre Can and Steven Gerrard. Lucas has never had a real opportunity under Brendan Rodgers and could prove a point by joining Inter and showing his worth.
