Chelsea To Make Shock £30m Bid For Man Utd Targeted Maestro – reports

Chelsea have surprisingly made a shock £30 million bid for Manchester United target Kevin Strootman in January.

The Old Trafford club have been tracking the Roma midfielder since the summer, with manager Louis van Gaal known to be a huge fan of the Dutch maestro.

Van Gaal and Strootman worked closely together while Van Gaal was in charge of the Netherlands, and Strootman’s injury shortly before the World Cup meant that the Dutch team completely altered their tactical setup.

It seemed certain that the 24 year old would, if he moved to the Premier League, join Man Utd, but it now seems as though Jose Mourinho is hopeful of beating his Premier League rivals to the punch.

As a result, the Portuguese manager has tabled a £30 million bid for the star.

This would provide Roma with a healthy profit on Strootman, who they paid £15 million for just last year.

This would be a particular bonus, given that Strootman has been injured for over six months.

Man Utd are, however, expected to top Chelsea’s offer in order to strengthen a squad that has been weakened by injury and suspensions, according to the Daily Express.
