23-Year-Old Liverpool Target Keen On January Move

Liverpool could be handed a significant boost in their chase for Barcelona defender Martin Montoya, with the talented young star keen to leave the Nou Camp in January.

The right back’s contract with the Catalan giants expires at the end of the season, but the player is not particularly keen to wait until then to get a move.

He has made only one appearance for the first team in all competitions since the start of the campaign, symbolising the fact that he is out of favour under Luis Enrique.

Montoya has never played for any club but Barcelona, having come through their famous La Masia academy system.

However, he is now particularly keen to move on.

His agent confirmed that Montoya wants to leave next month, and also confirmed that clubs from England, Germany and Italy are keen on his signature, suggesting there will be a battle ahead for the Reds.

Juan De Dios Carrasco told the press: “Tomorrow there will be a meeting with Barcelona to communicate the decision we have already made.

“He will leave the club in January. There are clubs interested from England, Italy and German.

“When a player wants to leave Barca, as Montoya does, I do not think the club will oppose his departure.”
