Liverpool could be set to hand teenage sensation Sheyi Ojo a surprise place on the bench against Basel in the Champions League tonight.
The Reds have to beat the Swiss side in the clash at Anfield if they hope to progress to the knockout stages of Europe’s elite football competition.
According to the Liverpool Echo, 17 year old Ojo could be used as Brendan Rodgers’ secret weapon for the game.
Ojo moved to Liverpool from MK Dons in 2011, and is known for his excellent pace, something that could allow him to make a significant impact from the bench if he is called upon.
Despite having not made his first team debut, Ojo has spent the past few weeks training with the first team, including on Monday night.
He also travelled with the squad to last week’s game against Leicester City but failed to make the bench.
Ojo has a record in Europe, having scored a double against Ludogorets in the UEFA Youth League, the under-19s equivalent of the Champions League.
