Liverpool Seek £4m Right Back Solution – reports

Liverpool are said to be chasing the signature of Uruguayan international right back Maxi Pereira.

With Glen Johnson having been offered a smaller salary to stay with the Anfield club next season, it looks likely that he will depart in the summer on a free transfer.

The likes of Roma and Juventus are thought to be sniffing around the former England international.

Johnson has been a vastly criticised figure this season, and it is understandable that Brendan Rodgers would be chasing a replacement.

It seems now, according to the Daily Express, that Pereira is his preferred option.

Like Johnson, Pereira’s contract with Benfica runs out at the end of the season.

This means that Liverpool would be able to capture him in the summer for nothing, or bring him in in January for a cut price fee.

Pereira has made 192 league appearances for the Portuguese giants since joining them from Defensor in 2007 for €3 million.

He would reportedly cost Liverpool £4 million to sign in January.
