Tottenham Hotspur are said to be chasing former Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol in an attempt to improve their Premier League fortunes heading into the second half of the season.
Albiol currently plays for Rafa Benitez’s Napoli, who he moved to in the summer of 2013.
Napoli have been struggling in Serie A under former Liverpool boss Benitez, with the Spanish manager failing to meet up to expectations.
There have been consistent rumours linking Benitez with a move back to the Premier League since the summer.
However, The Daily Mirror is suggesting that Albiol could make the move first.
Spurs sit in tenth in the Premier League, a disappointing position given the optimism surrounding the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino.
He arrived from Southampton with a reputation for quality football, but has struggled to turn Spurs around after their struggles last season.
It now seems as though the manager believes the addition of central defender Albiol will improve things.
The Spain international cost Napoli €12 million last summer.
