Manchester United are eyeing up a surprising £50 million summer move for Bayern Munich’s magical midfielder Mario Gotze, as reported by the Daily Star.
Van Gaal has recently added him to a long list of players that he would like the Old Trafford club to capture for him when the Premier League season finishes.
However, there is no guarantee that the player will move when summer comes.
He is expected to cost Man Utd a huge £50 million.
There would also likely be no possibility of a switch for Gotze unless the Manchester side qualify for the Champions League, something that Van Gaal will not guarantee.
Man Utd’s hierarchy are incredibly keen to revolutionise the club’s squad and fill it with world class players, somewhat copying the Real Madrid model of recruitment.
At the least, they want to have two quality players available to them in each position on the football pitch.
